Safestyle manufacturing wins top international Health & Safety award
We’ve been winning prestigious awards quite regularly at Safestyle and we’re very excited that our manufacturing facility, Windowstyle, has won the International Safety Award for the second consecutive year (and the seventh time in eight years!) – a superb record and a fantastic achievement!
Employees from our Barnsley-based Windowstyle facility joined top names in the health and safety industry to receive the coveted award and praise from Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who commented: “I am delighted to send my congratulations to all of those organisations being presented with an award by the British Safety Council. These awards recognise the crucial success that these organisations and their employees have achieved in their pursuit of excellence in the management of health, safety and environmental matters at an international level.”
Following tough independent adjudication, Windowstyle received the International Safety Award from the leading training and advisory body, the British Safety Council. Once again, Safestyle’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility proved we have excellent safety policies, plans and an ongoing commitment to health and safety at the highest level.
Over 1,000 movers and shakers from a diverse range of sectors celebrated their achievements at a ceremony and banquet at London’s prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, London. Mark Scaife, Director at Windowstyle added: “To achieve this award again for the 7th time in 8 years and to be recognised for our achievement by the Prime Minister is wonderful recognition for the great effort that has been put into our safety program at Wombwell by all our employees. Health and Safety continues to be our number priority in 2008 as we continue to protect our biggest asset - our people.”
He added: “With over 36 million working days currently lost each year through work-related ill-health and injury, these awards are an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits effective health, safety and environmental management bring to business, employees, the environment and the economy as a whole.”
Mr Brian Nimick, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “For more than 50 years, we have led the way in promoting health, safety and environmental best practice in society. In the 21st century, many organisations worldwide are now making health and safety a top priority. Through achieving an International Safety Award, Windowstyle UK Ltd is helping to make our vision of a safe working environment a reality.”
Guests at the banquet, which included a number of international winners, were treated to fabulous cabaret featuring the best of the best acts from the last 50 years including Paul Zerdin, Moulin Rouge dancers and an amazing display of indoor fireworks and lasers as part of an outstanding night of music and entertainment.
Improving our standards is virtually the Style Group motto as Safestyle and Windowstyle strive to improve our products, customer service and employee environment. Though we are constantly assessing our performance and we know there’s always room for improvement, this award does come as a nice reminder that all the hard work put in to making improvements is noticed and recognised.
