The Green Deal is an initiative put forward by the government to assist businesses and home owners in upgrading their properties with Green technologies, with the intention of increasing their property’s energy efficiency. Importantly the scheme employs a method of alleviating the burden of upfront costs to the property owner by putting in place a loan that is paid back by 'savings' on energy bills. Furthermore this loan is attached to the property itself or the property's energy meter, so it is always paid by the savings the energy efficient home provides and is not a loan that any individual is 'stuck with'.

The Green Deal has been a topic of hot debate, with many delays and even some Senior Ministers pushing for the scrapping of the initiative altogether. Despite setbacks the Green Deal still looks set for October 2012 launch for domestic properties.

So what home improvements are included under the Green Deal?

There are lots of installation types covered including: energy efficient windows and doors, draught proofing, roof insulation, solar thermal. The full list is extensive and can be found here. One key principle of the Green Deal is however that the energy savings must outweigh the cost of the installation, so from home to home some options may be more viable than others.

The Green Deal as an idea is similar to ones that at Safestyle we pose to many of our customers. That energy is being wasted in their homes and correctly investing in measures such as energy efficient replacement windows can save them money on their energy bills. Longer term this can pay back the cost of installation. What the Green Deal does is look at this on a much grander scale, looking at potentially 14 million homes in the UK and concluding that on such a large scale increasing the energy efficiency of homes can lead to a much more efficient economy in terms of allowing for less wasted revenue which can be better invested back into the economy and stimulate growth. The financial viability of course enables a bigger picture point of view in safe guarding the environment from unnecessary energy wastage.

The benefits to the economy were summarised as much by comments made by former energy secretary Chris Huhne who in a recent article said the following:

"Energy-saving is the win-win: it has the potential for job creation (for example in household improvements) and it supports growth by cutting bills and boosting spendable income."

Your first instinct would be to shop around and find the best savings on your bills, which is a great idea, you could save hundreds of pounds a year, but wouldn't it be better to look at where all your energy is going too?

Think about this: If you had a small hole in your petrol tank of your car would you simply be prompted to look and find the cheapest fuel price?

No, of course you wouldn’t. The dangerous nature of driving with a leaking petrol tank aside, you would look for the leak, repair it and whilst you were at it, you would probably look at servicing your car so it was more fuel efficient. Money well spent!

Your home more than likely has a similar although less easy to spot energy loss problem. If it isn't properly fitted with doubled glazed energy efficient windows it is losing energy and it is losing you money. The GGF reckon homes lose 25% of their energy through windows, and year on year that’s a lot of energy being wasted. So the best option is to stop that energy escaping!

Energy loss in your home is a trickier problem to detect as it can’t be seen with the naked eye and so it’s often overlooked. But it may be hitting you where it hurts, in your wallet. Our representatives out in the field now carry with them special tools to detect heat loss which are an important piece of equipment in determining where you homes energy efficiency could be improved. On detecting areas for improvement we’ll help you select one of Safestyle’s products that can best reduce your home’s heat loss.

So how are these new windows and doors going to save me money? Well, our windows and doors will certainly help make your home warmer and more energy efficient, our Safestyle reviews are testament to that, but while new energy efficient windows and doors may be one of the most effective ways of saving you money on your energy bills, every little helps. So turning down your thermostat, for example, is another way of using less energy throughout the home to reduce those dreaded bills.

We have been working hard to create better environments to connect with our customers on social media sites.

Our social media efforts are something we have been spending a lot of time and attention on these last few weeks. Social websites have been around for a number of years now and they are becoming increasingly more and more popular every day. Most people use social media to catch up with their family and friends or to even follow the biggest celebrities to see what they’re up to in the world. Social media sites like Twitter are even rivalling traditional media, with news now being capable of being shared much faster than broadcasters ever can, and with better mobile phone devices people are able to connect wherever they may be. People even follow their favourite brands to see things like when the latest new product is coming out and because they don’t want to miss out on the latest promotions. So where does Safestyle fit into social media with double glazing?

We know we’re not as interesting as Lady Gaga or as exciting as a new Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavour but Safestyle has a surprisingly large customer base, fitting more than 1000 homes every week and over our almost 20 years in business this amasses to a lot of customers (millions). So if social sites are where our customers are and they are familiar with using these platforms then we can’t think of a better place to communicate with them.

So, what do we have to offer? Well Safestyle is an industry leader in double glazing windows and doors, and as such we are an excellent source for the latest industry news and closely related fields too such as green energy and energy efficiency. For customers we can provide an excellent place for after sales customer service such as providing trusted expert advice in making sure windows and doors are properly maintained and last as long as they should. It is also a great opportunity to connect with us in real time, asking any questions you may have or simply making sure you can take advantage of the latest special offers as soon as they become available.

So here is a list of where you can find us:

Twitter

Facebook

ITS is a work-based learning provider of work-based training and development opportunities for people of all ages in Yorkshire and the Humber, and you may remember last year that one of our new apprentices, Sarah Borrino, won the Learner Achievement Award.

This year’s 'Employer of the Year' Award is in recognition of the number of apprentices taken on at Safestyle, the support for using apprentices and the steps taken to encourage their development moving forward into the future. From Safestyle Manufacturing, our Human Resources Manager, Gemma Caves, and Operations Director Mark Scaife, both attended the ITS 2012 Awards evening.

Gemma said: “It was great to attend the ceremony and represent Safestyle in receiving the award. It means a great deal to us as a people-oriented company, to be acknowledged for the work we’re doing to bring more people into employment and provide training and skill-set acquisition through our apprenticeship schemes.”

Mark Scaife also enjoyed the evening, commenting, “Thank you to ITS for this fabulous award and recognising the work Safestyle has put in. It was a very proud moment for us, seeing how far Safestyle has come as a business with the massive success we’re having, especially in 2012 with our new product ranges, and being able to translate that into employment and apprenticeship opportunities is an immense benefit to the local economy in particular.”

Safestyle have also just broken the all-time record again for the amount of business done in one day, by a significant margin, to over £830,000, on Wednesday 18th April. Now we’re expanding and looking for more people to join our team – so whatever the background, if you or someone you know is looking for a job, or just fancy a change, just check out the employment opportunities in our Safestyle jobs section.

Glass has been around in one form or another since about 3000BC, but it was much, much later on in the 1st century AD when it was first used as a window material. Before that date, windows were no more than holes in the wall, okay for letting some light in, and okay for allowing a limited view of the outside world, but not so okay on account of the fact that they let the elements in.

It wasn't until the middle of the 17th century that glass windows along the lines of the windows that we know today first began to appear, and it wasn't long after that that King William the third decided to introduce the window tax.

The early clear, or translucent styles of glass windows were actually blown, and they were the so called “bulls eye” window panes that are still evident (albeit in modern imitation form) in some Olde Worlde corner shops, and Georgian style properties today. It was the early 19th century when true plate glass first began to be made, and sash windows became all the rage, right through until the early part of the 20th century.

We've come a heck of long way since those early times, and as the largest manufacturer and stockist of UPVC windows and doors in the UK, Safestyle have advanced glass production out of all recognition to the glass of yesteryear.

Today's glass is made to the highest standards that not only guarantee crystal clear quality, but guarantee safety and energy saving too, such as Safestyle Eco Diamond double glazed windows – which use Pilkington energiKare™ glass, incorporating K Glass™ (specially designed to prevent heat loss), and Pilkington Optiwhite™ glass, which has been specially designed for extra clarity, with a view to allowing more sunlight to pass through it.

Safestyle double glazing is one of the best products on the market today. It uses 2 panes of 4mm thick glass, Pilkington K Glass™ for the outer pane, and Pilkington Optiwhite™ for the inner, with a 16mm air gap in between. But the air gap isn't just a void; Eco Diamond style double glazed windows actually have an Argon gas layer in between the panes which provides a much more effective insulation layer that acts to keep more heat in.

Safestyle windows represent a great investment to your home. Why not check out the Safestyle UK website for more information on our great "A" rated windows and energy efficient products? Safestyle can really help you to reduce your heating bills!

Thank goodness that window tax is a thing of the past. Mind you, having said that, knowing the way that taxation seems to be going, I guess you should never push your luck. I think it will probably come as quite a rude shock to several million of us if the government suddenly decided to levy a tax on every window we had that let light into our premises. But that's exactly what used to happen, not only in England and Scotland, but in France too!

Window tax was actually first introduced into the UK in 1696 under King William III. It was a tax that was designed to represent the prosperity of the property owner. At that point in time, income tax as such didn't really exist as it was thought to be too much of a personal imposition on behalf of the government.

All houses in England were subject to a flat tax rate of two shillings per property (£0.10 in new money). Although in this modern day and age that may seem to be virtually nothing, in those days it represented the equivalent of £11.12, with an additional variable tax levied on any windows above 10. This barbaric tax was deemed to be a tax on light itself, and it is believed that the term "daylight robbery" originated from this tax of the 'dark ages'.

Thank goodness that we now live in more enlightened times (window tax was finally abolished in 1851), as most home owners today would probably take as kindly to a window tax as they would to the government putting a tax on fresh air! Ssssh – don't give them any ideas for goodness sake!

Today we all tend to love light, airy brightness coming into our houses, and we take a great pains to make sure that the windows in our properties are as large as we can get them so we can get our fair share of sunlight. Also with no worries about Ultra Violet radiation which, thanks to the quality of the UPVC that we incorporated our Windows, has absolutely no effect at all in terms of discolouration. In fact the UPVC double glazing and doors that we manufacture and install are virtually maintenance free, and come with a 10 year guarantee.

Safestyle have been having a love affair with windows since we first began trading, and now as the U.K.'s single largest manufacturer we are keen to spread that love around with offers like our buy one get one free, attracting dozens of new couples by the day. So come on, don't delay – join the Safestyle window love in!

If you shudder at the sound of the post box in the morning, and the all too familiar sound of not-so-friendly letters cascading to the floor, you are not alone! The metal flap, as it rattles the early morning peace, sends cold shivers down your spine.

Gone are the days of receiving letters and postcards from friends in far flung places around the world. The only thing that gets a stamp these days is in a self-stick, windowed envelope. The fear of the dreaded bills mounting up on your doormat, joining forces like a little paper army, can bring beads of sweat to even the hardiest of home-owners. No matter how hard you try, the pile is ever increasing, and no sooner have you paid one than another unsuspecting intruder swiftly replaces it. If you remember your parents telling you to switch off lights, lock doors and secure windows – you now understand why!

We all know that your home is your biggest asset. Apart from your mortgage, maintenance and upkeep are the biggest burdens on your housekeeping pocket, and can single-handedly dictate the quality of your life. Security too is an important factor, and the desire to protect your family, your home, and all of its contents is unquestionable. You have worked hard to provide the proverbial roof over your head, so why leave it open to violation of any type. The easiest way of achieving your objectives is by installing energy saving products that ensure top class security, that look good, and are affordable at the same time.

In order to make sure that your home is well placed to give you the best return for your investment, irrespective of whether you are planning on moving any time soon, you need to ensure that it is maintained to the best of your ability. Nowadays, there are some really high quality products in the guise of aesthetically pleasing windows and doors, available from Safestyle UK. Established in 1992 and winner of several awards, Safestyle UK has a great selection of double glazed windows, uPVC doors (front, back, sliding and patio), all of which are available in a range of styles and colours to suit your own personal preferences. They are all made with security, durability, and style in mind, from classic to contemporary designs.

Once you've made the decision to replace your ageing doors and windows, you can sit back in the comfortable knowledge that you are investing in you and your family's future. It might even be time to invite the neighbours around – there's nothing wrong with a little showing off!

Here at Safestyle UK we don't believe that you should compromise on the quality of double glazing as this can be a false economy. Why? Because in reality cheap double glazing is typically inferior and more likely to fail, leaving you with windows and doors which aren't doing their job correctly and you out of pocket. The fact is, all windows are not the same.

Many of the cheap deals out there are for inferior windows made without reinforcement or the necessary structural rigidity to prevent frames from buckling, which can then lead to the seals being broken on the units. This results in condensation forming between the panes of glass, rendering them ineffective. The locks and handles on these types of cheap products are often made of poor quality materials which can't withstand the rigours of daily life as they rust, bend or distort.

One of the worst case scenarios with cheap double glazing is the low quality PVC profile becoming a horrible nicotine yellow colour within a short period of time.

However, at Safestyle UK we pride ourselves on manufacturing high quality double glazed products and providing them to customers across England and Wales, at an affordable price. Our windows and doors are designed and made by us, exclusively for us, and we install them ourselves – we don’t sell windows on to other companies. So this latest double glazing technology is only available from Safestyle!

Our manufacturing techniques embrace the latest technologies enabling you to have quality products without paying over the odds. Whether there is a recession or not, no-one can afford to waste their money on inferior double glazing and sadly it is these inferior products which make consumers wary of any genuine deals they see. However, this doesn't have to be the case and affordable double glazing can easily become a reality when you choose Safestyle UK. And what’s more, you can spread the cost with our easy payment plans to suit your budget, making our new windows and doors even more affordable.

Safestyle products are made to the highest standards and we continually invest in new technology and machines at our manufacturing facility, where we are scheduled to install a new glass Arrissor machine. This drive to improve has resulted in many new innovations, including the newly-launched A-rated Eco Diamond Window. We always aim to bring our customers the best of both worlds – great quality and low prices. Coupled together this enables us to be confident in being able to provide cheap but high quality double glazing as a cost effective option, turning dreams into reality for our customers.

We are very aware that we face tough economic times this year, however, we are not going to bury our heads in the sand, as we firmly believe with consumers demanding best value for money we will be able to maintain and build upon our reputation of being at the cutting edge of the latest technological advances in double glazing. Offering Safestyle UK customers the best value for money at all times.

2011 was great but 2012 has been an amazing year so far for SafestyleUK! We've been breaking all our sales and fitting records, installing our energy saving double glazed windows and doors in over 1000 homes every week. Last Monday was our biggest sales day ever, with over £800K's worth of business written in a single day. That's going totally against the doom and gloom of recession.

As you can imagine, this means Safestyle is expanding, and our growth means we're recruiting more people and also bolstering our transport fleet.

Safestyle Transport, the fleet provider for the Safestyle Group, are in the process of extending their fleet of Ford vehicles. Safestyle's partnership with Ford began last year, when our long-time 'drive' of being green, and as environmentally-friendly as possible, took a further step with the new Ford fleet.

Now with the recent contract for an additional 15 Ford Grand C Max vehicles and a pending 20 more Ford Focus vehicles, this sees the increase of our fleet of Ford cars to 170. After minor issues at the start of the contract with the Ford Mondeo model, the fleet is running well and drivers seem to enjoy the drive and fuel efficiency of the vehicles.

Steven Lambert, our head of Transport, commented: “We’re delighted how the business is going for Safestyle so far this year, and the Transport department continues to meet the increasing requirements of the Safestyle fleet. We’ll be focusing on upping our standards even further in the coming months – so watch this space!”

Wow, it's certainly been a huge year for Safestyle! We’ve brought out new products, broken business records, and helped get the energy saving message out there to families all across England and Wales!

To say it was an intense year is an understatement, 2011 has been one of our biggest ever. We broke our long-standing sales record for business written in one day, writing over three quarters of a million pounds of business on Thursday 17th November.

This on the back of a huge, nationwide energy saving media campaign, including TV, radio and internet, right from the start of 2011, and which saw the launch of the new and upgraded double glazing products, including the A-rated Eco Diamond Window, Sliding Sash windows and Astragal Bars range.

It is amazing to think of the successful achievements in the context of another year of economic turmoil, with a "double dip" recession, European financial crisis, and energy bills going through the roof. It's heartening to know that British business can still do well in an adverse economic climate.

Next year promises to be an even tougher economic year, and what with the Olympics and European Championships vying for the public's attention, we'll have to be well on top of our game too! We have several new exciting products that we're really looking forward to launching shortly.

From all at Safestyle UK, have a well-deserved festive break, a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a wonderful New Year!

Let's make 2012 an even better year!

The donation, for £1,196.60, was our largest collection to date for this worthy cause.

We've been showing our support for Children in Need year after year, raising money through raffles and the very popular 'dress down days' where employees donate £1 or more to leave their suits and ties behind for a day.

The amount raised this year was higher than ever before and to top it off our management team then doubled the total amount.

Thanks to everyone for their generous donations, with a special mention to Lesley Tempest-Mitchell from the Safestyle UK Accounts Department for organising the raffle, and to Victoria Tate for her thorough collection of donations!

One of our senior managers at Safestyle had to put illness and injury to one side in his bid to complete a 10k race to raise money for charity. Les Jones tackled the daunting prospect of running at the Wetherby Racecourse having been ill and also injuring an ankle prior to the race. With guts and determination, though, he persevered and still managed to complete the race, raising £800+ for an Ethiopian village he plans to visit next month.

Here’s his story:

“My 10k run was held at Wetherby Racecourse on Sunday 11th September at 2pm. I entered it purely in an effort to raise money for the village in Ethiopia I will be visiting in November when I will be delivering medical supplies, food provisions and also building a hut/building to treat any sick villagers.

“The days leading up to the run were not ideal with me falling ill from the Friday and this carried through to the Sunday, I was also carrying an ankle injury. My body was depleted of all energy reserves even before I started the race, however not running it wasn't an option.

“The difficulties which lay ahead of me became apparent after hitting the 1km marker, my whole body began to ache and each stride took such a huge effort. My ankle was holding up yet my energy reserves were well and truly running on empty. The 5km marker was in one way a relief to reach yet in another way psychologically demoralising, the knowledge that I was only half way was difficult to block out. For the final 3km I managed to ‘buddy’ up with another runner who really helped to urge me on. Every bit of pain I felt on the day and for the days following was worth it thanks to the generosity of those who sponsored me and knowing the massive impact the money will have for the village in Ethiopia.”

To raise more money Les then did two car boot sales, adding £630 to his total. Anyone wishing to donate money for this extremely worthy cause can contact Safestyle’s marketing team on 01274 842000.

We've been very busy at our Safestyle Manufacturing facility, producing thousands of our award-winning double glazed windows and doors to install in more than 800 homes per week, up and down the country! We’re not standing still though, and people have noticed.

The Safestyle Eco Diamond Window is going down a storm, and speaking of storms, winter's just around the corner and with our window A-rated as standard it will help customers save energy and cut those dreaded heating bills right down.

The demand means that at Safestyle, manufacturing never lets up, even in these tough economic climes, but we're always trying to improve things – we've got lots of developments in the pipeline to further improve product quality and deliver even better customer service and satisfaction.

And with nationwide concerns over security and safety much in the news lately, our highly-rated windows and doors, with their high security multi-point locking systems and robust construction, will keep the burglars out and give you peace of mind.

But our products and service are not the only things winning awards! We've received another award recognising the hard work put in to achieve our industry-leading safety record, the International Safety Award, which Safestyle have won for the 11th time.

As we continue to grow, we're constantly recruiting and recently the volume of online job applications has been booming even more than usual. Apprenticeships have also been in the offing down at the factory, with an incredible response to a limited number of available apprenticeships. One of our latest recruits has even won an award – 18-year old Sarah Borrino won the Learner Achievement Award from Independent Training Services.

Look out for our latest Safestyle videos and TV ads on the Safestyle YouTube channel.

Well that’s precisely what Safestyle prize draw winners are entitled to! That’s right, winners of the Diamond Club prize draw get their full outstanding balance for their Safestyle windows and doors paid off in full, and the latest prize draw took place in May.

This time the lucky winner was Miss Claire Brawn, of Billingshurst, West Sussex, who has had her balance of £1,557 paid off by Safestyle as a result of her winning the draw. Her partner Mr Phil Cheeseman was presented with a bottle of champagne and an official certificate.

Making the presentation was Safestyle Sales Representative Shahin Rostami, who sold them their windows and doors from our Brighton branch, and he said: “I’m very happy for Miss Brawn and it was a pleasure to present the prize. As a Representative of Safestyle I’m proud that we can make something like this possible, to provide such a fantastic opportunity for couples and families everywhere to have their superb double glazing home improvements paid for them.”

Safestyle’s valued finance customers automatically become members of our Diamond Club, through which they can take advantage of exclusive offers as well as automatic entry into the quarterly prize draw. The first ever draw was in February 2008.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Miss Brawn!

The Window Man, who has fronted many of our television and radio advertising campaigns since 1999, featured on David Walliams' Awfully Good Ads on Friday 15th April.

The show uncovers a host of weird and wonderful adverts, with highlights including ill-advised celebrity-fronted campaigns and bizarre products from around the world.

Jeff said: "It's an honour to have our advertising campaign recognised on this level, we've clearly made a big impression on viewers which is great news!"

Since taking up his role as the face of Safestyle UK 12 years ago, Jeff has become a household name, instantly recognisable thanks to his "BOGOF" catchphrase used to promote the company's affordable and energy efficient windows and doors.

The double glazing TV ad which propelled the Window Man to stardom was none other than "Pushover", which recently made a return to TV screens across the nation, and can be seen on Safestyle’s YouTube channel.

Our very own Jeff 'Window Man' Brown has been helping to boost a fund-raising drive for a Yorkshire mum who is battling breast cancer in the USA.

Jeff attended a charity auction night organised by family and friends of Bev Dransfield, who is receiving life-saving treatment in Arizona.

Jeff, compered the event, including an auction, to help campaigners raise a whopping £12,000 at the evening at Gomersal Cricket Club, West Yorkshire.

Jeff said: "After a whirlwind tour of Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol and Swindon, I was greeted at Gomersal by warm-hearted Yorkshire folk who gave very, very generously, and we even had a webcam link to Bev in Arizona."

Jeff added, "It was fantastic to talk to Bev and for her to see for herself how much her family and friends are rooting for her. I was also proud to be given the opportunity to represent Safestyle in presenting her Husband Lee with a cheque for £1,000 to add to the night’s total."

The event was organised by relatives of Bev, including Jonathan Fisher, who works at our Leeds branch.

Bev, 42, from Gomersal, West Yorkshire, is currently undergoing revolutionary treatment in the USA in a bid to finally beat breast cancer. After she was first diagnosed with the disease seven years ago, she underwent a full mastectomy with reconstructive surgery, and was given the all-clear.

Over the next few years, Bev and her friends helped to raise thousands of pounds for breast cancer charities by holding "pink parties" at the cricket club. But in November Bev was told the cancer had returned and had spread to her lungs, liver and lymphatic system. Medics gave her between two months and two years to live.

Refusing to give up, Bev and husband Lee left their sons George, 12, and Charlie, 10, on Boxing Day to set off for the clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She is currently undergoing an alternative course of treatment involving low levels of chemotherapy, a special diet and homeopathic remedies.

Bev and husband Lee had already remortgaged their home to pay towards the £60,000 treatment but they still need to raise more so Bev can finish the course of treatment. The proceeds from the charity auction night will go a long way to helping and other events are planned.

At the charity auction, various items were donated by local businesses, including a signed England cricket top and a Leeds United shirt.

Jonathan said: "Everybody I have spoken to said the night was fantastic and Jeff really made the night. He was brilliant.

"We thought we might raise between £3,000 and £6,000 on the night but we have raised about £12,000 and there is more to come."

One of our salesmen is helping to spearhead a fund-raising drive for a brave mum who is battling breast cancer for the second time.

Jonathan Fisher, who works at our Leeds branch, is organising a charity event to help his sister Bev Dransfield.

Bev, 42, from Gomersal, West Yorkshire, is currently undergoing revolutionary treatment in the US state of Arizona in a last-ditch attempt to beat breast cancer.

She was first diagnosed with the disease seven years ago and after undergoing a full mastectomy and reconstructive surgery she was given the all-clear.

Over the next few years, Bev and her pals helped to raised thousands of pounds for breast cancer charities by holding "pink parties" at Gomersal Cricket Club near her home.

Sadly, Bev found out in November that the cancer had returned and had spread to her lungs, liver and lymphatic system and doctors gave her between two months and two years to live.

But Bev has refused to give up and on Boxing Day she and husband Lee left their sons George, 12, and Charlie, 10, to set off for the clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.

She is undergoing an alternative course of treatment involving low levels of chemotherapy, a special diet and homeopathic remedies.

Bev and Lee have already remortgaged their home to pay towards the £60,000 treatment but they still need to raise more. Now Jonathan and the rest of Bev's family and friends are trying to raise as much as they can so she can finish the treatment.

They have organised a fund-raising auction on February 4th at Gomersal Cricket Club. The fund-raising group is hoping to get local businesses involved to donate prizes for the auction and they have already received items such as a signed England cricket top and a signed Leeds United shirt.

Jonathan said: "The response so far has been extraordinary and we are hoping to raise between £3,000 and £6,000 at the fund raiser. We are also hoping Bev's children will be able to fly to Phoenix to see her during her treatment."

The event is on Friday 4th February from 7.30pm, at Gomersal Cricket Club. Tickets cost £10. For more information contact Jonathan on 07984 342581.

HUNDREDS of our double glazing agents have been given a special survival kit to help fight the winter elements – including "magic heat pads".

The 750-strong Market Research team have been supplied with the gear to keep them warm and dry during the rain and snow.

The canvassing kit includes clothing to tackle all types of severe weather, including waterpoofs, thermal gloves and socks, umbrellas, hats, jackets, and new innovations such as magic gel instant heat pads, which keep the hands warm.

We think our Market Research Agents are some of the hardest working people you'll ever meet, working outside in sometimes the harshest of conditions, so we feel it's our responsibility to help protect them from the elements.

The kit is certainly unique in the glazing industry and we would be surprised if there was anything comparable in other vocations.

The initial feedback we're getting from out in the field is that the new canvassing kit is going down a storm, giving Market Researchers more confidence to brave the weather and all it can throw at them.

The canvassers carry out market research and gauge public opinion on energy-efficient ways to save money. As they work entirely outdoors, they have to endure everything the great British weather throws at them, including one of the most severe cold snaps to hit the nation recently.

The canvass kit also contains a plethora of paraphernalia, including energy-saving information, leaflets and guides, plus easy ways the public can take advantage of to help improve their homes and reduce their energy bills.
